Exophthalmos, also known as proptosis, refers to the protruding or the bulging eyes. It can affect either one or both the eyes and cause eye problems like corneal dryness and conjunctivitis. The symptoms can improve in the long-term but if proper treatment is not received, it may continue the eyes to bulge. It is not a condition but a disorder that indicates a problem with the thyroid gland. One of the major cause of exophthalmos is the Graves’ disease.
