Acromegaly

During adulthood, when pituitary gland produces growth hormone in excess, it leads to the development of hormonal disorder called Acromegaly. There is an increase in the size of the bone but this increase is limited to the bones of the hands, face, and feet. This leads to increased height in childhood which is called Gigantism but there is no change in the height during adulthood. It takes longer to recognize the disease as it is rare and the physical changes take place slowly over the years.
